Man charged over Brighton street robbery attempt

A man has been charged following an attempted street robbery in Sussex in which another man was assaulted.

The victim, from Newhaven, suffered a head injury in Lewes Crescent, in the Kemp Town area of Brighton, shortly before 0600 GMT.

Police said he had been taken to hospital for treatment.

A 28-year-old Peacehaven man has been charged with attempted robbery, causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing an offensive weapon.
