Man hit on head in Brighton flat burglary bid

Two men are being sought by police after a man was injured as burglars tried to gain entry to his Sussex flat.

The man was cut on his head after being hit with what was thought to have been a gun at the flat in Devonshire Place, Brighton, at 2020 GMT on Saturday.

Officers were told the man had been trying to stop two men from entering through the front door.

A woman who was also in the property was uninjured and managed to call police, which caused the men to leave.

The victim was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment.

The first man was described as black, aged in his early 20s, about 5ft 8in tall and of a slim but athletic build with short black hair.

The second man was described as white, about 6ft tall, and of skinny build.
