A 46-year-old man arrested by police on suspicion of the murder of a 78-year-old woman in West Sussex has been bailed pending further inquiries.

The body of Brenda James was found in woodland at the Goodwood Estate near Chichester on 24 March.

The man from Ipswich, in Suffolk, who was arrested on Sunday night, has been bailed until 19 May.

Mrs James' son, Neale James, 50, from Chichester, has been charged with her murder and remanded in custody.

He is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on 3 June.

Sussex Police said a post-mortem examination found Mrs James died from a "head injury caused by a weapon".
