Man in court charged with Lewes step-father murder

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering his step-father at a house in East Sussex.

Nathan Vaughan-Jones, who normally lives outside the UK, was staying in Mill Lane, South Chailey, when officers were called at 1600 BST on Tuesday.

Sussex Police said the victim had not been formally identified, but is thought to be 63-year-old Nigel Ross, from Maresfield.

Mr Vaughan-Jones, 33, appeared before Brighton Magistrates' Court earlier.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on Friday.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Wednesday showed Mr Ross, of The Drive, Maresfield Park, died from multiple stab wounds.

Sussex Police said he was declared dead at the scene.
