Hastings shopkeeper robbed at knifepoint

A shopkeeper was threatened with a large knife during a robbery in Hastings.

A man entered the Best One convenience store in Old London Road at 1750 BST on Tuesday and stole about £500 worth of cigarettes, lighters and cash.

Sussex Police described the robber as white, between 30 and 35 years old, 5ft 5in (1.65m) tall and of thin build.

He was wearing a dark green or black hoodie, with a black top over it, blue jeans and dark sports shoes.

Police said his face was covered with "some kind of black material" during the robbery.

As he fled, the robber dropped the cash, which was found by a passing motorist and returned to the shop.

There were no customers in the shop at the time of robbery.
