An East Sussex town has begun a campaign to get local firms to take on 100 new apprentices within 100 days.

The initiative in Eastbourne was launched at the town hall by the local Liberal Democrat MP, Stephen Lloyd.

He said apprenticeships "provided young people with a career and opportunities they may not otherwise have had".

Organisers said the campaign would put the focus on local jobs, targeting youth unemployment, training and skills.

The initiative ends on 28 August.
