Live rail warning after man dies on track near Falmer

Police have warned about the dangers of live railway lines following the death of a man near a Sussex train station.

British Transport Police (BTP) were called to Falmer station at 0355 BST on Wednesday to reports of a body on the railway line.

Officers found a man with serious burn injuries on the tracks. Paramedics tried to revive him but he was declared dead at the scene.

Insp Gary Ancell said the death was not being treated as suspicious.

He added: "At this stage this appears to have been a tragic accident which has seen a young man lose his life after coming into contact with the live rail.

"This is a sad reminder of the need to take care when near railway lines."
