Chichester man Neale James denies murdering mother

A 50-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to murdering his elderly mother, whose body was found in woodland on the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex.

Neale James, from Chichester, denied murdering Brenda James, 78, at a Lewes Crown Court hearing on Friday.

Mr James was remanded in custody until 31 October.

Mrs James, who lived at Lakeside Caravan Park in Chichester, died from a head injury caused by a weapon, a post-mortem examination showed.

Her body was found near Chichester on 24 March.

Mr James was remanded in custody until 31 October to await trial.
