Two die in A23 car crash near Brighton

Two men died when the car in which they were travelling left a dual carriageway near Brighton and crashed.

Sussex Police said the Peugeot left the southbound carriageway of the A23 near the A273 junction at Pyecombe at about 0100 BST on Sunday.

Two other men in the vehicle were treated at the Royal Sussex Hospital before being arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The force said all four men in the car were from London.

A spokesman for Sussex Police added: "They were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remain in police custody this morning.

"The collision impacted on both carriageways and the A23 was closed in both directions at Pyecombe while rescue, recovery and collision investigation work was carried out.

"It was re-opened at 7.25am."
