Hastings biker dies after crash on A21 near Battle

A 66-year-old motorbike rider has died following a collision in East Sussex.

The man, from Hastings, was seriously injured on the A21 at Whatlington, near Battle, on Thursday morning when his bike was in collision with a car.

He was airlifted to a London hospital, along with the 81-year-old driver of the car, where he died.

The motorist, from London, suffered a head injury and remains in a serious condition. The road was closed for several hours afterwards.

Anyone who witnessed the collision at the junction with Marley Lane at about 1030 BST, or who saw the green VW Golf Estate and red Honda motorcycle beforehand, is asked to contact Sussex Police.
