Video camera for East Sussex fire investigators

Firefighters in East Sussex are to use a digital video system to help investigate incidents.

Fire service officers in East Sussex will wear the camera on their clothing to record evidence.

The device is designed to help investigators examine the cause and spread of a blaze.

The camera may also be used to provide a record of any discussions or interviews during the investigation.

Officers using the camera will be clearly identified, by wearing a badge, and anyone in contact with a fire investigating officer can request that they are not recorded, said the fire service.

Recordings are tamper proof and therefore admissible as evidence in legal proceedings.
