Fire at disused Eastbourne wine bar treated as arson

A fire which left a disused wine bar in East Sussex seriously damaged is being treated as arson.

Fire crews were called to Terminus Road, in Eastbourne, shortly before 00:30 BST to reports of a fire at the former Lounge Bar.

A 37-year old man suffered a broken arm caused when he fell from the window of his first-floor flat above the bar while trying to escape.

Sussex Police said several people also had to be moved from adjacent flats.

Officers said there were several separate seats of fire inside the premises and it was thought that entry had been forced through a back door off Ivy Terrace.

Anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area between midnight and 00:30 is asked to contact police.
