Two men killed in separate crashes in Sussex

Two people have died and another person has been seriously injured in separate crashes in Sussex.

A 19-year-old motorist from Horsham suffered fatal injuries when his car and a lorry collided at 07:10 BST on the A27 near Arundel railway station.

Emergency services tried to revive him but he was declared dead at the scene.

Earlier, William Hamer, 26, was killed and his 20-year-old woman passenger seriously injured when their car left the road and overturned in St Leonards.

Sussex Police said Mr Hamer, from Kenilworth Road, St Leonards was driving a white Saab which overturned and came to rest on a grass embankment in Upper Park Road at 02:30 BST.

He and his passenger, a local woman, were taken by ambulance to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings, where Mr Hamer was declared dead shortly after arrival.

The woman was detained in hospital but her injuries are not said to be life-threatening.
