Water restored as South Chailey main repaired

Repairs have been completed to a burst water main in East Sussex, which left 3,000 homes without water or with low pressure.

Properties in Barcombe, Plumpton, Hassocks, South Chailey and Ditchling were affected by the burst near the A275 at South Chailey on Monday.

Supplies to some southern areas of Haywards Heath in West Sussex were also affected on Monday evening.

South East Water said repairs were completed late on Monday.

Water pressure was returned to normal during the night.

"This is a careful and slow process to ensure no further problems are caused as a result of other bursts elsewhere on the same water main network," said a spokeswoman.

"We apologise to customers for any inconvenience this emergency burst caused and thank them for their patience and co-operation."
