Spate of milk thefts from Sussex doorsteps

Extra patrols are being carried out after 75 thefts of milk from doorsteps were reported to Sussex Police.

Since April, Bognor Regis residents have reported 55 incidents of milk being stolen, with 15 more cases in Littlehampton and five in Westergate.

Sussex Police said that five thefts had been reported so far this month.

Sgt Steve Chalcraft said: "This may not seem a serious offence, it is very disruptive for those who have milk stolen."

Sussex Police are appealing for information to help them catch the thieves.

Mr Chalcraft said: "Officers will be conducting directed patrols in the areas where the thefts are occurring and would encourage the use of lockable milk storage containers wherever possible."
