Police hunting a man who sexually assaulted a woman as she walked home in Hastings have issued an image of her attacker with the help of witnesses.

They hope the e-fit likeness of the middle-aged suspect will lead to his identification, more than a month after the attack near White Rock Gardens.

The 36-year-old woman was assaulted on a path behind the Clambers play area in the early hours of 6 August.

Police said she suffered cuts and bruises and was "very traumatised".

Foreign accent

The suspect, who has a pale complexion and mousy brown receding hair, spoke with a foreign - possibly eastern European - accent.

He was wearing a black jacket and dark trousers.

Witnesses or anyone who recognises the image is urged to contact Sussex police.
