Couple hurt in Gatwick car park accident

A couple intending to fly from Gatwick on holiday have been injured in a crash in the airport's long-term car park.

Emergency services were called to the scene adjacent to the South Terminal on Wednesday after a VW Polo saloon car hit a tree and rolled over on its side.

A 66-year-old woman suffered serious head injuries, while her husband, who is in his 60s and was driving, suffered facial cuts and bruising.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, which happened at 09:44 BST.
