Man stabbed in attempted Brighton cash machine robbery

A 43-year-old man was stabbed during an attempted robbery at a cash machine in Brighton.

Sussex Police said the local man was taking money from an ATM in North Street in the early hours of Friday when another man demanded the cash.

The pair scuffled and the victim was stabbed in his right side.

Detectives said he was treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital for a superficial stab wound. They have appealed for witnesses.

Det Con Gemma Holley said: "The victim was treated for a small puncture wound to his right side before being discharged.

"He is still very shaken and we are keen to trace the suspect and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information which could help police with the investigation."
