Driver dies after lamppost falls on van in Pyecombe
A van driver in his 50s has died after a lamppost fell onto his vehicle following a collision on the A23 at Pyecombe in West Sussex.
Police said it was thought another van which was travelling south lost control at about 05:55 BST.
The vehicle hit the central reservation and collided with a lamppost which fell onto the van travelling north.
A 56-year-old man from Crawley has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The A23 northbound remains closed with some traffic being allowed on the southbound carriageway.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the Renault vans before the incident is asked to contact Sussex Police.
