Driver killed when lamppost fell on van on A23 named

A van driver who died when a lamppost fell on to his vehicle after a crash on the A23 at Pyecombe in West Sussex has been identified by police.

Colin Booth, 57, of St Annes Road, Eastbourne, suffered fatal injuries during the incident on Tuesday.

Police think the lamppost fell on to the vehicle after another van lost control, hit the central reservation and knocked it over.

A man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The 56-year-old from Crawley has been released on bail until 25 November.

Sussex police have appealed for any witnesses to contact officers.
