Sussex poppy collection tin taken in knifepoint robbery

An armed robber held a Sussex service station worker at knifepoint before stealing a poppy appeal collection tin.

The robbery, from Horam Service Station, in London Road, Horam, happened at about 17:30 GMT, on Thursday.

A man threatened the sole staff member with the knife and demanded money from the till.

When the staff member refused he grabbed the Royal British Legion tin from the counter and ran off.

He is described as white, in his late teens, about 5ft 8in tall, thin, wearing a black jacket over a black hooded top and black jeans.

Det Sgt Lee Floyd said: "We would like to hear from anyone who was in the London Road area of Horam late yesterday afternoon and saw this man entering or leaving the service station."
