Worthing family robbed while eating dinner at home

A family in Worthing were robbed while they sat at home eating their dinner, Sussex police have said.

Two men burst into the flat on Chapel Road as the couple were having dinner with their three children at 19:00 GMT on Sunday.

The thieves threatened the couple and stole £700 cash, two mobile phones, an iPad and some aftershave.

No weapons were used, but one of the men was believed to have been carrying a claw hammer.

The two men are both described as black and in their 20s.

'Terrifying experience'

The man with the hammer was 5ft 6in tall, of slim to medium build, with a small pitted scar on his left cheek. He was wearing a dark blue or black hooded top with a yellow badge in the middle.

The second man was 5ft 10in tall, of medium build, with a short black goatee beard. He was wearing a dark blue hooded top.

A third man, also described as black and in his 20s, was waiting by the flat's front door during the robbery. He was 5ft 6in tall, of slim to medium build, wearing a dark green hooded top.

Det Con Laura Sinden said: "This was a terrifying experience for the young couple."
