Girls injured in police car crash at Fishbourne in Sussex

A 17-year-old girl was seriously hurt when the car she was driving collided with a police car responding to a 999 call in West Sussex.

A passenger in the car, a 16-year-old girl, and the 29-year-old male officer, suffered minor injuries in the crash on the A259 at Fishbourne near Chichester.

The teenager is in a serious but stable condition in hospital. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has been informed.

Sussex Police appealed for witnesses to the crash, which happened at 18:00 GMT on Saturday.
