Girl trapped under car after Worthing collision

A six-year-old girl was trapped under a car in a collision between two vehicles in West Sussex.

One of the cars mounted the footpath in Loxwood Avenue, Worthing, hitting a 64-year-old woman, causing fractures to her legs and trapping the child.

The girl, who was freed after 20 minutes, suffered bruising to her legs in the accident on Wednesday morning.

A man, 64, driving one car was unhurt, while a 19-year-old woman driving the other vehicle suffered whiplash.

A 31-year-old woman and a 12-year-old girl were taken to hospital suffering from shock.

Anyone who witnessed the accident at about 10:40 GMT, or who saw a white Peugeot or a blue Ford Fiesta before the incident, is asked to contact Sussex Police.
