A 27-year-old man has been charged with murdering an 11-month-old baby from West Sussex who died in hospital from internal head injuries.

Unemployed Jerome Edwards, of Bridgefield Close, Midhurst appeared before Worthing magistrates accused of killing Crystal Hall-Hummel in May.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Lewes Crown Court on Friday.

Crystal died in St Thomas's Hospital in London on 14 May after being transferred from Worthing Hospital.

Paramedics took her to hospital from an address in Nursery Lane, Worthing.

A post-mortem examination carried out on the baby, who lived at Christchurch Road, Worthing, gave a provisional cause of death as head injury.

Sussex Police said Mr Edwards was arrested at his home on Wednesday after further forensic analysis and charged on Thursday.
