Ditchling Common car crash victim named

The man who died following a collision near Burgess Hill in East Sussex on Sunday has been named as James Smith.

Mr Smith, 29, from Uckfield, was a passenger in a Ford Ka which collided with a Volvo on the B2112 between Wivelsfield and Ditchling Common.

The male driver, 27, also from Uckfield, is being treated for a collapsed lung and broken pelvis.

Police are keen to speak to the driver of a blue Volkswagen Polo which was driving behind the Volvo.

Sgt Alan Spicer said: "Witnesses have told us that a blue Volkswagen Polo was travelling south behind the Volvo at the time of the collision and would have seen the events unfold."
