St Leonards flat fire: Woman arrested after man dies

A woman has been arrested after a 57-year-old man died following a fire in a flat in St Leonards, East Sussex.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue was called to the blaze in Charmaine Court in St Margaret's Road at 23:30 GMT on Wednesday.

The man, who lived in the flat, died at the scene, Sussex Police said.

The 60-year-old woman was treated in hospital for smoke inhalation and was arrested on suspicion of murder after being discharged.

The fire is being treated as suspicious and forensic investigators are examining the scene.

A post-mortem examination of the man will take place later.
