Horsham detective arrested and suspended from duty

A detective sergeant based at a West Sussex police station has been arrested on suspicion of gaining unauthorised access to information.

Sussex Police said the officer, based at Horsham, was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office in relation to the force computer systems.

The officer, who was arrested on Thursday, has been interviewed and suspended from duty.

He has been bailed until 27 January pending further inquiries.

"An investigation is being conducted by the Professional Standards Department and no further information can be released at this time," said a Sussex Police spokeswoman.
