Arrests follow attack on cyclist on Brighton seafront

Four teenage boys have been arrested after cyclist was attacked as he rode along Brighton seafront.

Sussex Police said the man, 43, suffered serious injuries to his jaw and ankle in the incident in Madeira Drive at about 22:30 GMT on Wednesday.

He is currently being treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

Two 14-year-old boys and two boys aged 15 have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Det Sgt Steve Warner said it had been an "unprovoked attack" by a group of people who were not known to the man.

He added: "Nothing was stolen from him and robbery does not appear to have been a motive.

"We would like to hear from anyone who was in the Madeira Drive area late on Wednesday evening and who saw a group of young people or the cyclist. If you can help please contact us."
