Sussex police commissioner website to help voters

Voters are being helped to understand the role of the police and crime commissioner who will be elected in Sussex later this year.

Sussex Police Authority has set up a website to explain the election, the commissioner's role, and what it means for the county.

Commissioners will be elected in every police force area of England and Wales in polls taking place on 15 November.

The elected commissioner will replace Sussex Police Authority a week later.

A statement from the police authority said the election would see the public voting for their policing representative for the first time ever.

It said the dedicated Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner website had been set up to provide information relating to the introduction of the commissioner.

The site offers information for voters, local authorities, police staff and potential commissioner candidates, and will also have links to the websites of all the candidates when they are declared.
