A man arrested in connection with the death of a man who was attacked in his Brighton home has been bailed by police.

Sussex Police arrested a 40-year-old local man on Thursday over the death of Christopher McLean, aged 65.

Mr McLean answered the door on 6 January to two men who attacked him in his flat in Caledonian Crescent.

Officers started a murder inquiry, but a post-mortem examination showed Mr McLean died of heart disease.

Police said they were still treating the incident as a major crime.

A police spokesman said the man who was arrested had been bailed until 29 February.

Mr McLean, who was known as Mac, answered the door to the suspects between 20:00 and 20:30 GMT.

The men confronted him, barged into his flat and a fight broke out, police said.

After the incident, Mr McLean began to feel unwell and his partner called an ambulance, but he later died.
