Armed robbers in East Grinstead Watch Company raid

Armed robbers have stolen jewellery and cash from a jeweller's in West Sussex.

Police said four people on two motorbikes or mopeds carried out the raid at the East Grinstead Watch Company on Friday.

The pillion passengers on both bikes smashed the shop door open with weapons and then demanded jewellery and cash from staff at the shop in Middle Row.

Officers said the four suspects left the area on the bikes. Two mopeds were later found abandoned.

No-one was injured during the incident.

Det Sgt Dave Morton said: "It is not known how the offenders left the area after abandoning the bikes."

He urged anyone who saw the incident, or the men dumping the bikes, or two mopeds driving away from the scene with two people on each, to contact him.

Sussex Police have not revealed how much cash was taken or the value of the stolen jewellery.
