The Duchess of Cornwall listened to the Military Wives choir and met a puppet from the War Horse theatre show during a visit to Sandown Park racecourse.

Camilla listened to the choir's number one hit Wherever You Are and met the families of service personnel during her visit in Esher, Surrey, on Friday.

The duchess was also introduced to War Horse author Michael Morpurgo and presented the Royal Artillery Gold Cup.

The event was first held in 1862 and was first run at Sandown in 1878.

The race is restricted to horses that are owned or have been leased by those people who have or are serving in the Royal Artillery and its recognised units.

It also features amateur jockeys who have been members of the armed services.
