Gas cylinders alert in Piddinghoe barn fire

A 650ft (200m) exclusion zone was put in place while firefighters tackled a fire at a barn in East Sussex.

Fire crews from Newhaven called to Riverside Farm in Lewes Road, Piddinghoe at 22:15 GMT on Friday found the building well alight.

A cordon was established round the scene because of oxygen and acetylene cylinders stored inside the barn.

"We were there a considerable time damping down the cylinders," said a fire and rescue service spokesman.

Fire crews left the scene at 08:00 GMT on Saturday.
