Sussex Police investigate Hastings foreign student robberies

Two reports of robberies on foreign students in Hastings are being investigated by Sussex Police.

Two men tried to rob some German students at about 1700 GMT on Monday at Hastings Castle. Nothing was stolen but one student was kicked on the head.

At about 1730 GMT the same day two Austrian students aged 14 and 13 were made to hand over money by six people in Alexander Park.

The police are considering that the two incidents may be linked.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "Hastings is a popular place for young foreign students to visit and learn English.

"These students are very welcome in our town and we will not tolerate attacks of this nature on anyone who lives in, works in or visits Hastings.
