Hastings gets regeneration boost for business parks

Hastings has been awarded £8.5m from a government fund to help with the town's regeneration.

The interest-free loan is part of the Growing Places regeneration fund and £7m will be used for development of the Priory Quarter business area.

The new office project, designed create more than 400 jobs in the area, has already been given planning consent.

The remaining £1.5m will fund an access road and junction to allow development of the North Queensway innovation park.

The park, on the north-west of Hastings, can accommodate 16,000 sq m (172,000 sq ft) of industrial and office space, and support over 700 jobs.

Councillor Peter Jones, from East Sussex County Council, said: "This is another wonderful result for Hastings, following hot on the heels of the government's approval of the [Bexhill-Hastings] link road."
