A 14-year-old boy charged with killing a Sussex teenager has been committed for trial to crown court.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of the manslaughter of 19-year-old Connor Saunders, of Downsway, Woodingdean, Brighton.

Mr Saunders died in hospital from head injuries after an altercation in the street in Rottingdean on 14 April.

The boy has been bailed by Brighton Youth Court to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 25 May.

Mr Saunders, who played for Peacehaven and Telscombe Football Club, died at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, the day after he was injured.
