West Sussex fire probe into Sompting bungalow blast
An explosion in a West Sussex street is being investigated by police and fire experts.
One person was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation after the incident in Hillside Avenue, Sompting.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said the explosion led to a fire in the front bedroom of the bungalow.
A building control inspector was due to visit the property to check the safety of the building on Thursday night, a fire service spokesman said.
Emergency teams were called to the scene just before 16:15 BST.
Sussex Police confirmed the incident was being investigated and the probable cause of the explosion was a gas cylinder although this had not yet been confirmed.
