Arrest after man seriously hurt in Brighton seafront crash

A driver has been arrested after a 73-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured when he was hit by a car near Brighton seafront.

Sussex Police said the local man was struck by a Subaru Impreza on Kings Road at about 19:00 BST on Thursday.

He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious leg injuries.

A 45-year-old man from Peacehaven was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and released on police bail until 16 November.

Sussex Police have appealed for witnesses to contact officers.
