A 32-year-old man from Brighton has been arrested on suspicion of stealing Henry vacuum cleaners from businesses.

The man was held on Friday, after Sussex Police were called to Journeys Hostel in Richmond Place, Brighton when a borrowed cleaner was not returned.

He was arrested on suspicion of stealing 16 machines between 22 November and 7 February and was bailed until 4 April.

Businesses in Brighton, Hove, Peacehaven and Worthing were affected.

All complained to police that a man had entered their premises asking to borrow a vacuum cleaner and then not returned it.
