East Sussex residents offered bottled water after main bursts

Hundreds of residents in part of East Sussex had to use bottled water after a water main burst.

About 1,600 properties were left with low pressure or no water after it happened at about 01:00 GMT on the B2165 near Northiam.

Those affected were in the Clayhill, Beckley, Four Oaks, Peasmarsh, Rye Foreign and Playden areas.

South East Water said workers spent the morning fixing the burst after bottled water was left at several locations.

The company apologised for the inconvenience caused.

Earlier this week, about 450 properties in Ninfield were without water for more than 24 hours after power cuts stopped pumps from moving supplies round the network.
