Man in Worthing attack in serious condition

A 37-year-old man has been transferred to a specialist neurological centre after suffering serious head injuries in an attack in West Sussex.

Police said the man was found semi-conscious by passers-by on the corner of Brighton Road and Park Road, Worthing about 02:10 BST on Sunday.

He is believed to have been walking from Warwick Street into Brighton Road when he was assaulted.

He was treated at Worthing Hospital then transferred to Hurstwood Park.

Police said the man was in a serious but stable condition in the Haywards Heath neurological unit.

"We would like to speak to anyone that was in the Warwick Street, Steyne Gardens or Park Road areas of Worthing who might hold some key information about what happened," said Det Sgt Chris Leech.
