A 67-year-old man has been charged with driving without due care after a pedestrian was injured when a taxi mounted a pavement on Christmas Day.

The Mercedes Vito taxi and a Citroen C4 had collided in Montpelier Place, Brighton, just after 22:00 GMT before the taxi hit the 26-year-old woman.

She was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Citroen, from Heathfield, is due before Brighton Magistrates' Court later this month.
