Police shoot at car in Crawley to make three arrests

Three people have been arrested, one on suspicion of attempted murder, after police fired shots at a car to stop it.

Shots were fired at the tyres of the car in Crawley at about 14:15 GMT to bring it to a halt, Sussex Police said.

Police said three people in the car were arrested, a man on suspicion of an attempted murder in Hertfordshire and another man and a woman on suspicion of harbouring an offender.

No other shots were fired and nobody was injured, police said.

Police said both the car the arrested people were in and a police car were damaged. They said officers from the Surrey and Sussex Tactical Firearms Unit were involved in the operation in London Road.

The three arrested people are being held at a police station in Surrey.
