Protesters halt West Sussex council meeting

A West Sussex County Council meeting has been disrupted after protests in the public gallery about budget cuts.

The meeting to discuss the Conservative council's budget was adjourned at the start of the debate but later resumed.

Chairwoman Amanda Jupp offered to meet protesters from the Don't Cut Us Out group after the meeting.

The group was protesting against cuts to the adult social care under the budget which sees council tax being frozen.

The £535m budget which sees cuts of £55m over two years, with £30m being earmarked to resurface classified roads, was approved by the council.
