Man slashed in Brighton by screaming woman's attacker

A man who went to the aid of a screaming woman as she was being dragged along a Brighton street has been slashed across the hand and forearm by her attacker.

The 18-year-old was walking in Bloomsbury Place at about 20:00 GMT on Sunday when he saw the woman.

When he spoke to her, he was attacked by the man, who slashed him across the hand and forearm, police said.

The victim then punched the man and ran off before calling police.

Police have appealed for anyone who saw the incident to come forward. They describe the attacker as white, about 20 years old, thin and about 6ft tall.
