Four Gatwick Airport workers held over duty free thefts
Four men working at Gatwick Airport have been arrested over the theft of duty free cigarettes.
The contract workers, aged between 22 and 57 and from Sussex and Surrey, were detained after 13 cartons thought to have been stolen were recovered.
Sussex Police said the arrests were part of an investigation into the theft of duty free goods from the airport.
A 22-year-old man and 46-year-old woman from Crawley were also held over duty free thefts in August.
Following questioning the four men - a 22-year-old man from Rye, a man aged 36 from Oxted, a 57-year-old man from St Leonards and a man aged 23 from Crawley - were released on bail until November.
Ch Insp Andy Kundert said: "There is no suggestion that passengers have been targeted and we are working with Gatwick Airport Limited and airline operators to tackle the issue of theft and to catch those responsible."
