A man awaiting sentence for robbery who escaped custody after being taken into hospital in Brighton for medical treatment has been re-arrested.

Jamie Halifax, 25, ran off while being treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital on 27 July.

Sussex Police revealed on Tuesday that he was found in Sutton, south London, on 24 August.

He was charged with escaping lawful custody and is due to appear before Lewes Crown Court on 18 September.

Earlier this year, Halifax pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery, one count of attempted robbery and three counts of being in possession of an offensive weapon.
