Runaway paedophile Roderick Robinson arrested in Malta

A convicted paedophile who fled the UK after abusing two girls has been arrested in Malta.

In 2012, Roderick Robinson, 76, from Brighton, received a suspended sentence after abusing the girls, aged seven and five, Shoreham, West Sussex, that year.

Sussex Police said following his conviction he changed his surname to Macdonald and left the UK, breaching the terms of a court order.

He was detained in Malta under a European Arrest Warrant.

Det Ch Insp Carwyn Hughes, of Sussex Police, said Robinson would be returned to Sussex "in due course".
