Cyclist Michael Long dies after car collision in Nutley

A 79-year-old cyclist has died after his bicycle was in collision with a car on the A22 in East Sussex.

Michael Long, of Hop Gardens, Fairwarp, near Uckfield, died at the scene in Nutley shortly before 10:00 GMT on Sunday.

He collided with a Renault Megane travelling south as he was heading north outside Nutley service station.

The car driver, a 32-year-old man from East Grinstead, was unhurt. Land and air ambulance paramedics attended.

The A22 at Nutley was closed for six hours.

Sussex Police appealed for witnesses to contact them.
